Royal family sips, secret estates, and a gin with aristocratic backers — discover why Silent Pool Gin has become Ascot’s go-to spirit. Read on to discover the full story!

From Surrey pond to royal circles

Housed on the Duke of Northumberland’s Albury Estate beside the Silent Pool, the distillery was opened by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, in February 2019. The duke, a friend of King Charles, has long supported the brand and has shared the gin with the monarch and other royals. Plaques around the site recall visits by members of the royal family, including the Duke of Kent and the Duke of Gloucester.

Botanicals, bees and a royal thumbs-up

Made with more than 20 botanicals — think cardamom, chamomile, rose, honey, lime and orange — the gin also benefits from on-site beehives tended by beekeeper Sergio Pignagnoli. Sophie praised the distillery’s sustainable practices and the use of local honey and lavender during her visit.
