A tragic event unfolded off the west coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, where a colossal wave swept four individuals into the sea, leading to their untimely demise. Additionally, another person remains unaccounted for. Initially, authorities confirmed three fatalities; however, further developments revealed more details.
The incident took place shortly after 4 PM at one of the well-known natural pools in Los Gigantes, within the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At that moment, numerous visitors were enjoying the scenic setting, both on the rocky outcrops and in the water, when an immense wave surged towards them unexpectedly, pulling them into the depths.
Reports indicate that the emergency services of the Canary Islands responded promptly, managing to rescue one individual from the tumultuous waters, while another was found deceased. The confirmed death toll comprises initially two men and one woman—aged 35 and 55, respectively. Later, a fourth woman was discovered; although she received immediate medical attention and was airlifted to a hospital, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
