Ongoing Search Efforts

Authorities have yet to determine whether any of the victims were German nationals. Rescue operations continued into the evening hours searching for the missing individual, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. Search teams included coast guard units, a rescue helicopter, fire department personnel, and police.

Warnings Issued

Witnesses reported that some individuals managed to escape the water independently. The state broadcaster RTVE highlighted that the authorities had issued warnings about hazardous waves the previous Sunday. Although the natural pools are often seen as hidden gems for tourists, they can quickly become perilous in rough sea conditions as massive waves can pull unsuspecting individuals into the open ocean, and strong currents can prevent safe return.

The island had recently experienced similar distressing events, with reports of many people being swept away just weeks prior, resulting in three fatalities and numerous injuries. Tenerife finds itself once again grappling with the aftermath of this deadly incident.
